February 16, 1933 - April 15, 2026

William R. “Bill” Bricker was born February 16, 1933 near Stilwell, OK. He left this life for his eternal life with his Savior on April 15, 2026. He was 93 years old. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, between 10:00 am and 7:00 pm with family present from 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at Trout Funeral Home Chapel in Ponca City, on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 10 am. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK 74601.

His parents were Jake and Ida (Matthews) Bricker. Bill’s family moved to Nowata, OK, and then later to Ponca City. He attended school in Ponca City. In 1953, he enlisted in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1955. On October 28, 1955, Bill married Mary Ann Harris of Dickens, Iowa, and they made their home in Ponca City.

While in the army, Bill learned to drive trucks. After his discharge, he worked various jobs until he was hired by Lee Way Motor Freight. He worked for over 20 years for Lee Way until the company closed. He was a short-haul driver, delivering freight in Ponca City and the surrounding area.

After Lee Way closed, Bill worked for the Traffic Engineering Department for the City of Ponca City. He retired from this job and became a crossing guard for Ponca City Schools. He loved talking to the kids as they made their way to and from school.

Bill and Mary were the parents of 3 children: Donna (Larry) Swinford of Springfield, MO; Doris (Nonnie) Rowe Sr. of Ponca City, OK; and Doug (Tobi) Bricker of Shawnee, OK.

Bill gave his heart to Jesus and became a committed Christian in 1967. He faithfully served his Savior for the rest of his life. He was a tremendous example of a godly man for his family and everyone who knew him.

Bill’s hobbies included coon hunting, raising chickens, collecting jokes, and watching baseball, especially his favorite team, the St. Louis Cardinals. All of these hobbies took a backseat to spending time with his family and attending church.

He is survived by his wife of more than 70 years, Mary; his 3 children; 2 sons-in-law; 1 daughter-in-law; grandsons James (Samantha) Swinford, Cory (Catlin) Bricker, Casey (Dondi) Rowe, Nonnie “Punk” (Shawn) Rowe Jr.; granddaughters Debbie (Chad) May, and Delta (Rick) Sprueill; 7 great-grandsons; 1 great-granddaughter; as well as nephews, nieces, other relatives, and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 older brothers Jim and JD, 2 older sisters Ruby and Ollie, and his good friend Jim Looney.

His promotion to heaven leaves a giant hole in the hearts of his family, but he is enjoying being in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus, as well as his family who preceded him.
