Stan Loughridge

March 17, 1957 — December 17, 2025

Stan W. Loughridge was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma on March 17, 1957, to Andrew and Wilma Loughridge. He spent his childhood north and east of Newkirk, Oklahoma. He enjoyed roaming the nearby pastures with his favorite cocker spaniel, DoGo hunting rats. In grade school he discovered music and was drawn to the drums. Stan played in the Newkirk Tiger Marching band. To make money Stan started his own hay hauling business which he operated for a number of years. Stan also worked for several area farmers working ground. He and several band mates were taken to Jamaica by the director after graduation to participate in a Jazz Festival there. Stan enrolled at Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa, OK and was soon invited to play drums for the college show group, The Roustabouts. He also started singing in the group. During his time there the group went abroad to the Soviet Union and Romania as part of an American Youth Ambassador program. After graduating from NOC with an Associate of Arts he worked at various jobs. He eventually started work in an oilfield supply store. He stayed in the oil industry in various capacities for local companies. Stan eventually started his own contract pumping business that he operated for over 20 years.

During the early 80’s Stan welcomed his two children. Daughter, Kendra and son Edward (Eddie). He enjoyed watching them in their athletic endeavors and helped them where he could in their musical pursuits. He was proud of their accomplishments in their professional and personal lives.

Stan’s real passion was always music, and he continued to play in area bands. He enjoyed listening to and playing all genres of music. You never knew what kind of tunes would be heard coming out of his shop! Stan was always wanting to learn new aspects of the music business, so he branched out into the live sound side of business. He studied and worked with several top front of the house and monitor technicians in the Oklahoma City area. He then became interested in the installation side of the sound business and branched out again. He has installed PA systems in schools, athletic fields, business and whole house sound systems. A friend got Stan interested in running live sound for rodeos and other western events. Stan has run sound for rodeos since the mid-nineties. Covering events in Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, and Florida. Stan was proud to be a member of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association as a Music Director. He eventually closed his pumping service and worked solely in the sound business. For a time, Stan partnered with Cal Denison in Blackwell, OK. The studio produced music-videos as well as recorded albums for gospel and country artists. During the early years of RFD TV, Stan and Cal’s work could be seen weekly on a program named “Music of the Mid-West”. They worked with local talent as well as some national artists. The studio closed after a few years, and Stan concentrated fully on his sound business. With the true heart of a teacher, Stan was happy to teach drums and various aspects of the sound business to those who were interested. He was always ready to lend a helping hand when and where it was needed. Stan was very meticulous and conscientious in his work. He wanted each job to be done to the highest standard. What you saw was what you got with Stan…he didn’t put on airs. Stan was authentic…a genuine gentleman.

In 1987 Stan met the love of his life, fellow musician Debbie (Deb) Boles. They married in 1988. Together they performed in area bands. She then became his assistant on sound jobs, in the studio as well as on installation jobs. Stan and Deb were always together. They simply enjoyed each other’s company whether on the job or at home. Stan and Deb were always talking and laughing together. Their mornings started off with coffee and laughter and continued the rest of day! To be able to be with your best friend day in and day out was a blessing that they truly appreciated. They both wanted the other to know that they were appreciated. On their first date Stan did something that he continued to do the rest of their time together…he opened the vehicle door for her and helped her get in and out. He loved to hold her hand or have her take his arm while they walked. Stan spoiled Deb and she in turn spoiled him. Deb did her best to make sure Stan had a happy life. Stan did his best to give Deb a happy life and he succeeded.

Stan made so many wonderful friends during his work. These folks made returning to events more like a reunion than work! Folks enabled Stan to get to know them and their families. Allowing him to celebrate their joys as well as helping them morn in times of sadness and loss. Stan counted each of these folks as a blessing. Stan enjoyed spending time with good friends and family and of course, he enjoyed delicious meals with them! He had an infectious laugh and a sometimes-ornery sense of humor! He was always on the lookout for the unusual gift or card that would make someone laugh!

On the evening of December 17, Stan stepped out of this earthly realm and into the glorious presence of his savior, Jesus Christ. Knowing that we will be together again in Heaven one day helps to ease the pain of being separated from him.

Stan is survived by his wife, Deb of the home. Mother, Wilma of Newkirk, Oklahoma. Sister, Andrea and brother-in-law Kenny of Norman, Oklahoma. Daughter, Kendra and husband Anthony of Edmond, Oklahoma. Son, Edward (Eddy) and wife, Errin of Ponca City, Oklahoma.
