Sandra was born on March 30, 1947, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, to William Bruce and Frances Maxine (Kuhn) Bridges. Sandra grew up in Ponca City, graduating from high school and embarked on a successful, dedicated career as an administrative assistant and later on as an engineering recruiting coordinator in the oil and gas industry, working notably with Conoco. On December 22, 1967, Sandra married the love of her life, James Kanelakos, in Ponca City at the Albright United Methodist Church. Together, for 58 years, they built a beautiful life filled with deep love, shared faith, and countless memories.

Sandra’s heart expanded with the births of her children, Amy in 1973 and Brian in 1978. She was a fierce and loyal protector of her children and was a supportive, present force in their lives. She was Amy’s best friend and Brian’s biggest cheerleader - she will be so missed in their daily lives.

Sandra had a vibrant spirit and a wide array of passions. She loved watching sports, especially the OSU Cowboys, and she was Commissioner of the March Madness family bracket challenge each year. As her kids grew up, she always had the snack cabinet “on the ready” for all of their friends and she loved being a "Gator" soccer mom and cheering on her children at all of their sporting events. She cherished the title of "Second Mom" when supporting family and friends, always taking the time to listen and put other people's needs ahead her own. Dedicated to giving back to her community, she spent much of her time volunteering at Friendship Feast and nurturing lifelong friendships. Sandra was an active and devoted member of the Albright United Methodist Church, where she joyfully sang in the choir. Above all else, her greatest joy came from being with her beloved family.

Sandra’s legacy of love lives on through her devoted husband, James Kanelakos of Ponca City; her daughter, Amy Taylor and husband, Will, of Yukon, OK; her son, Brian Kanelakos of Yukon, OK; her brother, Billy Bridges and wife, Kassie, of Ponca City; her sister-in-law, Linnea Kanelakos of Ponca City; her brother-in-law, Howard Kanelakos and Peter Kanelakos Moreno, of Houston, TX; her sister-in-law Linda Fike, of Dallas, TX; her niece and goddaughter, Cinda Krout and husband Andy; nieces and nephews, Collin Kanelakos and wife Natalie, Danielle Gormley and husband Jeff, Kaleb Bridges and wife Jessica; great-nieces and nephews, Ella and Nicholas Kanelakos, Coleman, Cannon and Cooper Krout, Carter, Jacob and Garrett Erickson, Pearl Bridges, and loyal companion, Mollie; alongside a host of extended family members, companions, and dear friends. Sandra is preceded in death by her parents, William and Maxine Bridges; her grandmother, Etoy Rollier; and father and mother-in-law, Stephen and Lyndall Rose Kanelakos.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friendship Feast - First Christian Church, 210 N 5th St, Ponca City, OK 74601.
