Ronald Dale Skaggs of Blackwell, Oklahoma, departed this life on October 28, 2025, in Blackwell, at the age of 57.
Ronald Dale Skaggs was born on March 23, 1968, in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the son of James Radis and Norma Jean (Abney) Skaggs. He grew up near Viburnum, Missouri, and attended Viburnum public schools, graduating with the Viburnum High School class of 1986.
He joined the United States Army on November 27, 1986, and was discharged from the Army Reserves on November 26, 1997. He married Stephanie Ann McCurry on February 22, 1992, in Nardin, Oklahoma, and they made their home in Blackwell. He worked as a truck driver and then for Rubbermaid. He later began working for Stimulating Pumping Services as a frac hand. He attended the First Baptist Church of Blackwell. He enjoyed hunting for game and for mushrooms. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and loved spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Donna Britton and Beverly Combs.
He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Skaggs of Blackwell, Oklahoma; two sons—Aaron Dale Skaggs of Blackwell and Patrick Alan McCurry and his wife Samantha of Amelia, Ohio; two daughters—Brooke LeAnn Barr of Blackwell, and Jessica Quinn of Nevada; four sisters—Sharon Clark of Carthage, Missouri; Debra Minor of Moro, Illinois; Carol Barton of Black, Missouri; and Linda Osborn of Arkansas; one brother, Wayne Skaggs of Ironton, Missouri; four grandchildren—Travis Skaggs of Blackwell; Waylon Barr of Blackwell; Kaida Skaggs of Wichita, Kansas; and Elara Skaggs of Wichita, Kansas; his father-in-law, Richard Patrick McCurry of Blackwell; one brother-in-law, James McCurry of Blackwell; and three sisters-in-law—Jeanette Reames of Fort Riley, Kansas; Patricia Skaggs of Blackwell; and Lisa Appleby of Katy, Texas.
Casketbearers include James McCurry, Jacob Barr, Lynn Gardner, Blaine Dunagan, Shane Dunagan, and Neil Glass. Jeff Schofell has been recognized as an honorary casketbearer.
A brief viewing be held from 9:30 AM – 1:15 PM, Monday, November 3rd, 2025.
A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, November 3rd, 2025, at the Blackwell Cemetery, with Rev. Mark Meador officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions to be made in his honor to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma ℅ Roberts & Son Funeral Home.
