Rachel Parrett, 82, beloved Mother, Grandmother, Mother-in-law, Great-grandmother, Daughter, and Spouse, was called to her eternal resting place in the presence of her Lord and Savior on April 29, 2025. She was born on August 24, 1942, in Raleigh, NC, to Arthur and Juanita Twombly.
A devoted woman of faith, Rachel was a longtime member of Sunset Baptist Church, where she shared her love for God and others with warmth and sincerity. Her trust in the Lord was a guiding light throughout her life, evident in her kindness, wisdom, and the way she poured love into her family and community.
Rachel had a creative soul and found joy in life's simple but beautiful details. She had a deep passion for gardening and plants, and her home was often filled with the calming presence of greenery and blooming flowers. She had an incredible gift for conversation and could speak with anyone on any subject-from Scripture to sewing, cooking to current events-always with genuine interest and grace.
She cherished her family deeply and was a constant source of love, support, and guidance. Her generosity and nurturing spirit extended beyond her children and grandchildren to everyone blessed to know her. Her beloved cat, Tinkerbell, was also a faithful companion who brought her great comfort and joy. She shared a treasured bond with her dear friend Nancy, and the two enjoyed countless day trips and excursions across the state-capturing beautiful moments through photography and sharing laughter and fellowship along the way. Her sense of humor and warmth extended to her in-laws, fondly referred to as "the outlaws," the Collins family, with whom she shared years of good-natured banter, love, and lasting memories.
