William “Bill” E. Dick

April 2, 1936 – January 11, 2018

William (Bill) Eugene Dick, age 81, resident of Ponca City, OK passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018.

The celebration of his life, including Masonic ceremony will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, January 17th at Trout Funeral Home chapel with son-in-law Brother Clyde Garrett of Hiwasse First Baptist Church Officiating. Burial will be at the Grandview Cemetery in Kaw City immediately following the service.

The viewing will be at the funeral home Tuesday, January 16th from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm with the family available to visit with friends from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

Bill was born on April 2, 1936 to Orval Shelby and Elmina Depuy Dick in Severy, Kansas. As a small child Bill’s family moved to Kaw City where he attended school and graduated from Kaw City High School in 1954. On September 26, 1953 Bill married his high school sweetheart, Nancy Lou Rendel and to this union they had 5 children, Diana, LuAnn, Curtis, Karen, and David.

Bill worked as a union electrician for companies including Snyder Electric, Shelly Electric, and Welborn Electric. He was actively involved in the IBEW local 444. In 1989 Bill moved to Sulphur, LA, where he worked as a contract electrical inspector on a large project at the CitCon lube plant. In June 1999 Bill retired while working at Conoco as a contract electrical inspector.

Bill enjoyed serving the Lord in many ways through the church including teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir, and serving as a trustee. He was a proud Master Mason of the Masonic Lodge. Bill also enjoyed helping his community by serving on the Newkirk School Board, the Kay County Rural Water District 3 Board, the United Methodist Church in Newkirk and volunteering with various organizations. Bill was passionate about mentoring young people at work and off the job.

Bill was a hardworking, generous man and loving husband who always put family first. He loved being on the farm, working in the garden, raising livestock, and caring for wildlife. He enjoyed bird watching and eating his wife’s amazing cooking.

Survivors Include: His childhood sweetheart and beloved wife of 64 years, Nancy Lou Rendel Dick. Daughter Diana Dollarhide of Belle Vista, Arkansas, son-in-law Clyde Garrett of Gravette, Arkansas, Curtis and Debra Dick of Ponca City, Karen and Alton Horne of Ponca City, and David Dick of Ponca City. Grandchildren: Richard and Georgie Dollarhide of Belle Vista, Arkansas, William and Traci Dollarhide of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Carissa and Todd Boyd of Belle Vista, Arkansas, Keith Garrett of Arkansas, Colby and Meg Dick of Edmond, Brian and Krystle Dick of Oklahoma City, Elaine and Ray Sandoval of Ponca City, Shelby and Nicole Beathard of Kansas City, Missouri, Curtis and Nicosha Horne of Houston, Tx, Laurra Horne of Ponca City, Patrick and Shannon Horne of Ponca City, Brittany Horne of Oregon, Trent and Courtney Horne of Ponca City, and Ariel Dick of Ponca City. 25 great grandchildren with number 26 arriving soon. Siblings: Patty Sue Prater of Wewoka and her children Craig and Rhonda, Robert Joseph Dick of Ponca City and his son Bob.

Preceded in death by: His parents, Orval and Elmina Dick, brother Walter Morvan (Moby) Dick, sister Fern Dick Freeman, daughter LuAnn Garrett, and son-in-law Richard Dollarhide.
