Obituary for Wanda Ford

Wanda Lee Ford, longtime resident of Ponca City, died Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Ponca City medical Center. She was 62.

A memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Odd Fellows Cemetery with Elder Toby A. Blackstar Co Pastor of St. James A.M.E. in Park City, Kansas, officiating. Pallbearers will be Ryan Ford, Terry Ford, Donnie Lockhart, Donald Miller, Clifford Carter Jerry Nichols, and Steve Ingmire. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home and Crematory.

Wanda was born August 29, 1951 in Higgins, Texas to Carl Frederick Ford and Evelyn Charlotte Ford. She spent her younger years in Guymon, Oklahoma where she enjoyed making mud pies and trying to persuade her siblings to eat them. She eventually move to Ponca City around 1977, where she was employed at Jack Bowker Ford for a time. In 1978 she met her best friend and partner for life, Cathy Ingmire. Wanda enjoyed spending time with friends and family, and watching her favorite football team, the Washington Redskins. She loved to fish, ride four wheelers, and was always there to come to the rescue when needed by her loved ones. Numerous times she would assist with freeing a stuck vehicle or changing a tire. Wanda worked hard all her life, eventually retiring in 2008, after which she spent time with her dogs and family.

Wanda was devoted to her family, her dogs, and her friends and was much loved. She will be deeply missed.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Evelyn.

She is survived by longtime partner of 37 years Cathy Ingmire; daughter, Sheri Ford and husband Donald Miller of Ponca City; grandsons, Ryan Ford of the home, and Nakota and Markas Miller; brothers, Billy Ray Ford of Tulsa ; Carl Frederick Ford of Ponca City; Terry Ford of Texas; sisters, Betty Ann Ford of Ponca City; Roxie Johnson of Cullman, Alabama; her little man great grandson Troy Gene Ford of Seminole; And numerous nieces and nephews.
