Virginia Barrows

(May 3, 1935 – October 3, 2015)

Virginia Mae Barrows of Blackwell, Oklahoma, journeyed to heaven on October 3, 2015, at her home in Blackwell at the age of 80 years.

Virginia Mae Barrows was born on May 3, 1935, in Hinton, Oklahoma, to John William and Jesse Bea (Killman) Powell. She grew up in Hinton attending Hinton Public Schools. She married Bill H. Barrows on November 30, 1950, in Medford, Oklahoma, and they settled in Blackwell where she served her family as a homemaker. She enjoyed playing guitar and singing with her husband, her sister Juanita, and various friends. She also enjoyed family dinners at the holidays and camping and fishing with her family. She loved her church family, attending church and sharing her faith in the Lord with her grandchildren and those she knew in the hospital. She was a loving and caring lady and will greatly missed by all.

She is survived by her children, Linda Killman and husband, Bobby of Blackwell, Karen Watkins and husband Bill of Ponca City, Joyce Mayse and husband Larry of Ponca City, Delores Sherling and Madison Jones of Blackwell, Rose Harris and Cary Denton of Blackwell, Danny Barrows and wife Ranae of Evergreen, Colorado, and B. J. Smith and husband Ronnie of Braman; seventy-six grandchildren; seventy-five great grandchildren; and twenty-eight great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother; two sisters; four grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 8th in the Victory Fellowship Church in Blackwell with Rev. Carolyn Rickner officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Kirt Russell, Larry Sang, Travis Watkins, Dan Mayse, Jeremiah Mayse and Trenton Anderson. Serving as honorary casketbearers will be Billy Russell, Rusty Watkins, Donnie Collins, Rocky Wood, Jesse Wood, Jimmy Killman and Jarod Barrows.

A memorial has been established in her honor with Ross Hospice of Ponca City in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
