Violet Maxine Buffington

(June 11, 1942 – August 18, 2016)

Violet “Maxine” Buffington, 74, went home to meet her Savior on August 18, 2016 with her family by her side. A service to honor the life of a woman loved by all who knew her will be held on Monday, August 22, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Trout Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Albert Quick officiating in Perry, OK.

Maxine was born on June 11, 1942 to Lawrence and Arletta Hunt in Orlando, OK. She graduated from Orlando High School where she played basketball and excelled in her studies. She was the fifth of nine children, so there was always something to do with brothers and sisters on the family farm. Her favorite activities included dancing at Teen Town, playing basketball with her siblings and visiting with neighbors.

When she was 18, she met the love of her life, Leslie Buffington, and they married in 1960. They raised their children Dianne and David on the family farm in Perry OK. Maxine was active in her children’s lives as they grew up. She was also an active part of the family farm. She worked at Lintz Department Store and Tetik Childcare. She loved working in her garden and growing flowers on the farm. She took great pride in her family which was her greatest joy in life. When her granddaughters Lauren and Allison Eaton were born, Maxine followed their activities as well as her many niece’s and nephew’s activities. Maxine was a caregiver, always taking care of her family. Everyone who knew her loved her, especially her nieces and nephews who affectionately called her Aunt Mackie.

Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Arletta; her daughter Dianne Eaton; her brothers Leonard Hunt, Jimmy Hunt, and David Hunt; and her sister-in-law Penny Hunt.

Survivors include her husband of the home, Leslie Buffington; her son David and fiancé Sharlotte of Perry; granddaughters Lauren Eaton and fiancé Drew of Wichita; Allison Eaton of Wichita; brother Lynn Hunt and wife Denise of Lucien; sisters Grace Zinck of Perry, Cherry Kelley and husband Larry of Midwest City, Bonnie Atwood and husband Jay of Norman, Janet Harmon and husband Coy of Perry; and numerous nieces and nephews and other family members and loved ones.
