Obituary for Vincie Paisley

Vincie Vinita Paisley of Ponca City, died Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Via Christi Nursing Care Center. She was 100 years old. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 22, 2014, at the Albright United Methodist Church with Rev. Scott Spencer officiating.

Vincie was born in Cedar Vale, Kansas, on October 16, 1913, the only child of Roy J. and Faye L. (Glasscock) Cole. She graduated from Cedar Vale High School in 1931 and after completing one year of post graduate business courses, also at Cedar Vale, she began working at the Chautauqua County Court House in Sedan, Kansas as a clerk. In 1934, she moved to Ponca City with her mother and worked for C. M. Sanders Real Estate and Insurance Co. Vincie also worked at Ames Company, and various automobile dealerships in Ponca City. Vincie began taking piano lessons when she was five years old and played for Sunday School and Church Services in Cedar Vale during her teenage years. After moving to Ponca City, she played the piano for the First Evangelical Church, now the Albright United Methodist Church. Through a series of lessons, she learned to play the organ and began playing it when a new pipe organ was installed in the church. She played the piano and organ for church services and funerals for 40 years. On July 4, 1937 she married Ezra Stuart Paisley at the First Evangelical Church. They lived their entire married life in Ponca City. They were married for 72 years.

Vincie was very involved in her church, the Iris Garden Club of Ponca City, and was a lifetime member of Soroptimist International. She enjoyed traveling. She and Stuart traveled several times to Europe, throughout the United States and attended numerous Elderhostels. She collected various souvenirs from their travels. She also enjoyed needlepoint, collecting coins and stamps, gardening, flowers, especially sunflowers and daisies, and birds.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her son Neal Paisley, and wife, Anna Mae of Arkansas City, KS; daughter Ann Brown, of Edmond, OK; grandchildren June Solomon and husband Kurt, of Arkansas City, Cara Eaton and husband, Randy of Wichita, KS, and Trish Carmichael, and husband, David, of Phoenix, AZ; three great grandchildren, Bryce Scott and wife, Talia of Topeka, KS, Shelby Scott and Carson Solomon; and one great, great grandson, Tayten Blatchford, all of Arkansas City. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Stuart in 2009.

A memorial has been established with the Albright United Methodist Church. Contributions may be mailed to the Church at 128 S Palm, Ponca City, OK, 74601. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home and Crematory.
