October 9, 1941 ~ July 17, 2022 (age 80)
Tracey Albert Roy, resident of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City on Sunday, July 17, 2022. He was 80.
Tracey was born to Mitchell Roy Sr. and Rosa (Primeaux) Roy on October 9, 1941 at the Pawnee Indian Hospital in Pawnee, Oklahoma. He grew up in White Eagle, Oklahoma and attended Marland Schools. Tracey loved sports and while in high school he played baseball and basketball in which he was excellent.
He worked for the Tinker AFB in Oklahoma where he retired from. He had a lifelong passion for the Angie Smith Memorial United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was a youth director and trustee for many years. Over the years he was a sponsor of the youth at the Ponca Indian United Methodist Church in White Eagle, Oklahoma.
He had a lifelong passion for the University of Oklahoma athletics teams. He was a 43 year season ticket holder and a men’s basketball season ticket holder. Throughout his life he was an avid fan of the New York Yankees baseball team. He traveled to many cities to watch and support his beloved Yankees.
His most common saying was “When do the Yankees play?”. With the arrival of the Oklahoma City Thunder basketball team, he was a supporter that watched and attended many games. He was as champion bowler and domino player. He won many awards and accomplished two sanctional perfect games at 300.
On August 5, 1963, he married Barbara Gillette of Mandeville, North Dakota of the Mandan Hidatsu and Arikara Nation. He was anticipating their 59th wedding anniversary. Tracey was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who loved being with his family.
He is survived by his sons George and Perry Roy, adopted son Ken Rivas, daughter Teresa Roy, granddaughter Meekah Roy, sister Franceilia Roy, brother Gaylon Motah, and adopted brother Gaylon Motah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell Roy Sr. and Rosa Primeaux Motah, brothers Rodney Roy, Mitchell “Red” Roy Jr., Gordon Roy, Spencer Roy, and sister Clara Roughface.
A traditional noon feast will take place on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at 12pm followed by funeral services at 2pm at the Ponca United Indian Methodist Church with Pastor Jim White officiating. Casket bearers for the service will be: Mitchell Dao, Jeffrey Boney, Matthew Roughface, Joel Motah, Robert Tabor, and Mitchell Roy. Honorary bearers are: Russell Gillette, Florence Brady, Grace Gillette, Leonel Chase, Carrissa No Braid, Laura No Braid, Joy Tabor, Demetrius Warrior, and Leighann Brady. Burial will follow after at the Ponca Tribal Cemetery in White Eagle, Oklahoma under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
