Kathryn Sue Pappan Weber was born on May 12, 1930 to Jeston and Jean Davis Pappan in Ponca City, Ok. While she was still very young, Jeston passed away and her mother remarried Walter Cobb who became a beloved father to her. On June 6, 1947, she was married to Frank E. Weber in Ponca City. They celebrated 67 years of marriage before his passing in October of 2014.

Sue was a member of the 1946 graduating class of Ponca City High School. Following high school, Sue attended Northern Oklahoma College. However, the matters of life interrupted her studies and she ultimately completed a Bachelor’s Degree from Central State University, now UCO, in 1977. Sue’s parents owned and operated the one and only original Cobb’s Cafe. She grew up in the cafe, assisting in the management there. The cafe was a tremendous family affair where aunts, cousins, and grandchildren all worked in the business together, having many good times between them. Following the sale of the cafe in 1971, Sue began her career in Culinary Arts. She held the teaching position of Culinary Arts and Commercial Food Management at the inception of the Pioneer Vo-Tech, now Pioneer Technology Center, retiring in 1986. Upon her retirement, she and Frank traveled all over the U.S. and Canada in their motor home, making many long time Friends. Sue and Frank were also avid Oklahoma University Sooner fans, and football season ticket holders. They followed OU football wherever the games were held, including Hawaii. Sue had a unique zest for life, and heartily so in the endeavors to entertain others. She enjoyed hosting many holiday parties including her infamous annual Christmas open house as well as hosting family and friends at their Lake Ponca Cabin. Gardening was another of Sue’s great passions, her yard was always beautifully landscaped. Sue’s grandchildren were especially important to her. She enjoyed attending and supporting their activities and sporting events. Sue and Frank traveled to Mexico to work at a Methodist Mission. With her background in the culinary arts, Sue was a perfect fit to run the kitchen, feeding the mission’s workers. Their efforts had such an impact that in 2011, the mission built new kitchen facilities and dedicated the building to Frank and Sue Weber.

Surviving family members include her son: David J. Weber and wife Debra of Albuquerque, NM; daughters: Susan Blake of Ponca City; Sally Tubbs and husband Andy of rural Red Rock, OK; grandchildren: Hallie LaRue and husband Kevin of Ponca City; Katie Blake of Ponca City; Chelsea Weber of New York City, NY; Matthew Weber of Austin, TX; Brett Blake of Harrah, OK; Kelly Blake and wife Denessa of Harrah, OK; and great grandchildren: Kallon LaRue, Colton Blake, and Kaymon Blake. Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, sister-in-law, Betty Faken; and son-in-law, Kenny Blake.

The family extends a special message of gratitude for the kind and loving care provided by the staff of the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home in Blackwell.

Sue may be remembered with a memorial donation to the Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, 445 Fairview Ave, Ponca City, OK 74601 or the Methodist Mission c/o First United Methodist Church, 200 S. 6th Street, Ponca City, OK 74601.
