Sue Sartin

January 23, 1937 – December 23, 2020

Bessie Sue Sartin of Blackwell, Oklahoma went to be with her Lord and Savior December 23, 2020, at the age of 83.

Sue Parker was born January 23, 1937 in Oklahoma City at The Home of Redeeming Love, anxiously awaiting her arrival were her parents Jack and Gussie (Patton) Parker of Blackwell, Oklahoma. She attended Blackwell Public Schools graduating in 1955, the evening following the historic Blackwell tornado. During her school age years, Sue enjoyed all things music: tap dancing, accordion band, playing clarinet and bass clarinet in the BHS Band.

Shortly after graduation Sue met the love of her life, Bill Leroy Sartin. They were married February 25, 1956, celebrating 62 years of marriage prior to Bill’s death in 2019. To this union four children were born: Billy, Benny, Denise and Cindy.

Sue was a lifelong church member. As a child she and her parents attended the First Church of God. After She had her own children she joined First Baptist Church and later Immanuel Baptist Church where she was in the Hope Sunday school class. At each church home she was always ready and willing to help out where needed.

Sue enjoyed working with her hands by sewing dresses for her girls, quilting, knitting and crocheting baby blankets and afghans, cooking, baking and canning for family and friends. She also enjoyed treasure hunting, fishing, flower and vegetable gardening, bird watching and picnics with her late husband. In her later years her favorite pastime was looking forward to visits from her children, grand children, great grand children and brothers.

Sue will be remembered for her kind, gentle, loving spirit and faith. She truly lived life according to her life verse chosen as a child: Psalm 19:14. “ May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.”
