Shirley Ann Campbell

(December 21, 1939 – April 25, 2016)

Shirley Campbell of Braman, Oklahoma, died early Monday morning, April 25, 2016, in the Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas, at the age of 76 years.

Shirley Ann (Punches) Campbell was born on December 21, 1939 in Shidler, Oklahoma to Charles W. Punches and Mary D. (Billbe) Punches.

Shirley attended Shidler schools, and following graduation she married Kenneth Lee Campbell on July 31, 1958, and they settled on the Clyde Lowery Ranch, as well as the Chapman/Barnard Ranch where they continued to work for the next 17 years. When not working with the cowboys, she would also prepare meals, she was well known for being a wonderful cook. After moving to Cedarvale, Kansas she worked for both Cedarvale and Sedan hospitals for 10 years. Later in life Shirley managed several retail stores, and upon retiring she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandsons Travis and Cody. She would often take them camping, and you could bet there was always a story to be told when they returned. With Shirley there was always a story to go along with everything she did. She loved to cook, not only for her family, but for whoever was in need. Shirley took great pride in all of the meals that she prepared, just remember to ask what all is in the beef spread before you eat it.

She is survived by her husband Kenny Campbell of Cedarvale, Kansas; a brother, Dewey Wayne “Sonny” Punches of Canyon City, Colorado; a sister Mary Ellen Grant of Shidler, Oklahoma; a son Lowery “Dean” Campbell and wife Donna of Braman, Oklahoma; a grandson, Cody and wife Michaela of Braman, Oklahoma; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by a son, Wesley Gean Campbell; a grandson, Travis D. Campbell; parents, Charlie Punches, and Mary Billbe; brothers, Charles Junior Punches, William Henry “Bill” Punches, Wesley Cleo Punches, Everett Leroy Punches, and her infant brother, Bartley Edward Punches; sisters Helen Elaine Robertson, Edria Marie “Toots” Rayles, and Verlyn Dorothyne “Tubby” Martin.

Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 29 2016 in the Braman Cemetery Pavillion in Braman, Oklahoma with Rev. C.M. Wilson of Braman Methodist Church officiating.
