July 25, 1927 – November 8, 2018

Ruth Marie Covey White, Blackwell, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday November 8, 2018 at the age of 91 years. Ruth was born on July 25, 1927, to Albert Nelson Covey and Emma Ruth (McClain) Covey. Ruth was born in the family residence at 914 W. College in Blackwell, which was located in the rear of her family’s neighborhood grocery store at that location. Ruth gave her life to God when she was 9 years old and enjoyed living for Christ each day of her life. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Blackwell at the time of her death. She participated in church activities throughout her life and often taught Sunday School and served a church treasurer. She also served as church pianist and organist. She graduated from Blackwell High School in 1945, and attended Bethany Peniel College in Bethany, Oklahoma.

She married her high school sweetheart, Archie Bacher, Jr. on June 2, 1946. While residing in Bethany, where they both attended College, she worked for an insurance agency there. After college they moved to Nardin, where Mr. Bacher taught school, and Ruth taught piano lessons and worked at Johnson Grain Elevator. During that time they adopted a son, Stephen, who was born on November 2, 1952. Stephen died in a tragic accident in 1969. In 1963 Ruth married John Johnston who died in 1972. Ruth was working for Ray Hamlin Automobile Agency in Blackwell at that time, where she continued to work for 22 years. In 1974 she married George M. Lane, who died in 1984. In 1985 she married Michael Snow, who died in 1993. In 1994 she married Roy A. White, who died in 2011.

Ruth worked as volunteer at the Blackwell Hospital for over 20 years. She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, and visited every State except for North Dakota. In declining health for the past few years, Ruth served her Lord by praying for the needs of others, and was especially concerned with those in the service of our Country. She carried on a telephone ministry, checking up with those who were close to her or those who might need to hear a friendly voice. She knew that the Lord would take her when she had fulfilled the ministry for which she was called. Ruth is survived by a niece, LaVon Crouse, a great-nephew, Allen Wright, a great great-nephew, Daniel Mark Edwards, and a great great-niece, Angela Michelle Ahrens. She is also survived by her step children, Ronald White, Donald White, Stephen White, Donna Barrett, and Debra Jones.
