Obituary for Rupert Cooper

Rupert Lewis Cooper, resident of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2015. He was 84.

Graveside services will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery with James Riggs officiating. Casketbearers will be Garrett Hannah, Christopher Cooper, Francisco Aguilar, Salvador Casique, Jr. Doug Kiser, and Curtis Adams. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.

Rupert was born March 17, 1931 in Tulsa Oklahoma to Rupert and Juanita Cooper. With the moving of the family frequently due to employment. Rupert attended several elementary schools graduating from the Texarkana, Texas High School where he excelled in football. After graduation he attended the University Of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University graduating from Oklahoma State University in 1958.

He worked at various newspapers throughout the area before going to Chilocco in November 1963 and being employed there until the school closed in 1980. After that time, he was employed at Conoco for several years before taking retirement in 1988. He served in the United States Army from 1954 until 1956. Married Frances Siegel on August 2, 1958 in Ponca City. Rupert was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.

He is survived by Wife, Frances Cooper of the home; son, David Cooper and his wife Gaye; four grandchildren, Kayla Cooper and her husband Francisco, Christopher Cooper, Lindsey Casique and her husband JR, and Garrett Hannah; four great grandchildren, Gabriel Casique, Gracianna Casique, Paisley Cooper, and Presley Cooper.

Preceded in death by his parents, and an infant sister.

Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00pm at Trout Funeral Home, Tuesday, May 5, 2015.
