Rose was born on July 11, 1955 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Arthur Joe and Lula Mae (Parker) Miller. The couple were blessed with a large family and the house was always filled with laughter. She was born and raised in Ponca City and graduated from Ponca City High School in the early 1970’s. She then attended college at Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa.

Rose began her working career as a teacher’s aide and ended her career as a child nutritionist in the public schools. She worked at Ponca City Schools until her death. All of the staff at the schools will miss her and are sad to see her go. She worked very hard for everything she had. She was proud of all that she had accomplished, deservedly so.

Rose was a member of the Life Church in Ponca City as well as St. John Baptist. She enjoyed attending church with family and friends. She loved to dance and read scary books. She was a brilliant cook. Her children remember three recipes as being the “Best in the World”, her lasagna, her chicken and rice and her ice box pies. Rose loved to watch scary movies.
Rose was preceded in death by her parents, former husband Carlos Burgess, siblings Anthony Miller, Anette Miller, Diana Jefferson and Lasha Miller, and one niece Dortheia Pugh.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband George Lockett of the home, son Carlos Miller, son Brian Miller, daughter Rashawna DeRogers and her husband Malcom, daughter Mirakle Burgess, and son Omar Burgess, grandchildren: Carlos Miller, Jr., Kamari Miller, Troy Carson, Tashanti Carson, Christyana DeRogers, Takyah Carson, and Inell DeRogers. A Silent Tear
Just close your eyes and you will see all the memories that you have of me. Just sit and relax and you will find, I’m still there inside your mind. Don’t cry for me now I’m gone, for I’m in the land of song. There is no pain, there is no fear, so dry away that silent tear. Don’t think of me in the dark and cold for here, I’m no longer old. I’m in that place that’s filled with love known to you all as “up above”.
