Robert Eugene Lowe

(December 3, 1930 – August 13, 2015)

Robert Eugene Lowe was born in Enid, OK, on December 3, 1930, to Henry and Veda Gay (Combs) Lowe. He grew up in Enid and graduated from Enid High School in 1948. He attended Phillips University in Enid before joining the U.S. Army in 1950 where he served with the Headquarters Battery of the 189th Field Artillery Battalion of the 45th Division of the Oklahoma National Guard in Japan and Korea.

Bob married Patricia Morrison on February 27, 1951 in Enid, OK. After he returned from Korea in 1952, they started a family. Bob attended Oklahoma A&M University for a short time, before returnimg to Enid and graduating from Phillips University with a BA degree in Business Administration. The young family moved to Ponca City where he went to work for Conoco as a Petroleum Landman in the Mineral Lease Records (later Real Property Admini- stration) department. Except for two years spent working for Helmerich & Payne in Tulsa, Bob was employed by Conoco for his entire career.

Bob was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where he served as lector, member of the Funeral Choir, on the Parish Council and as a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a past president of the Camp Fire Board and a proud member of the American Legion, VFW and the Elks Lodge.

Bob and Pat enjoyed traveling. When the kids were small, Bob built a trailer to hold camping supplies and they took the whole family on camping trips across the Southwest. In retirement, the couple travelled aroaund the United States in a fifth wheel trailer. They took several wonderful trips to Hawaii, Italy, Austria and also to Alaska, where they viewed the Iditarod Dog Sled Race. Bob had a lifelong love of flying, but because of his eyesight, was unable to qualify as a pilot. Recently he had the opportunity to fly with a friend and "pilot" the plane for a short time.

Bob loved music–all kinds–swing, Big Band, rock and country. When his grandchildren were teenagers, he would listen to their favorite artists and discuss music with them. Other favorite activities included ballroom dancing and parties with friends; he and Pat especially had fun at their 50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration in 2001. He also enjoyed reading and history, and loved to share ideas and information he had discovered.

Bob was the proud father of five children, and had nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He loved being in the middle of all the games and jokes at family gatherings.

Robert Lowe is survived by his wife of 64 years, Pat, and five children–Mary Morrison, Stillwater, Bob and Debbie Lowe, Norman, Diane Lowe, Stillwater, Barbara and Jeff Hathcock, Tulsa, and Patty and Craig Steen, Tulsa.
