Robert A. Case, Sr., (Bob) beloved father of five, grandfather of 10 and great-grandfather of eight, died peacefully in Oklahoma City on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, surrounded by family. He was 93. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2023, at Woodlands Christian Church, Ponca City, where he was elder emeritus. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK, 74601.

Born in Marland, Okla., to Calvin Theodore and Ethleen Peacock Holmes Case on June 17, 1929, Bob was the youngest of six siblings. From humble beginnings in northern Oklahoma in the Great Depression, Bob made the most of his nine decades. Besides raising a large family, he was recognized as an accomplished grain elevator manager, civic leader, and church leader, including significant service to First Christian Church, Kingfisher, and Woodlands CC, Ponca City.

He married Velma Ray in 1949, starting a family and his management career soon after. He served as general manager of Farmer’s Cooperative Elevators in Red Rock, Okla., Rogers, Ark., McPherson, Kans., and Kingfisher, Okla., before his 1991 retirement. Avid travelers, the couple’s destinations included Canada, Mexico, Alaska, Australia, Jamaica, and Nassau. A two-week trip to the Holy Land in 1995 held particularly significance. Moving to Ponca City in 1997, they continued traveling, especially to a favorite destination: Cancun, Mexico. When Velma died in 2019, Bob remained in his Ponca City home until his death, attended by son, Robert Jr., and caregiver, April Nelson.

Robert is survived by his five children: Cathy Jean Clark (Marcial) Mitchell of Edmond, OK; Amy Colleen (David) Madison, Cibolo, TX; Robert A. Case, Jr. , Stillwater, OK, Patricia R. Case (Lori Adams), Lebanon, IN., and James Virgil (Deanna) Case, Guthrie, OK.; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; myriad and extended family members and friends.
