Rex Lile McSparrin passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at his home in Tonkawa. He was 98 years old. In honor of a life well lived, a memorial ceremony for Rex will be held Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Tonkawa, Okla. with Pastor Lois Bartley officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home of Tonkawa, Okla.

Casketbearers will be Joshua Lile Williamson, Matthew Mittelstet, Adam Seals, Ryan Seals, Mark McSparrin, and Mike McSparrin.

Honorary casketbearers will be Daryl Anderson, David Diaz, and Ryan Rush.

Rex was born February 20, 1925 in Goltry, Oklahoma to his parents William C. and Goldie (Turner) McSparrin. He attended school in Goltry, Oklahoma where he was raised on the farm, graduating in 1943.

On August 2, 1947 he married Enid Maurine Addington at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Enid, OK. They were married 71 years before her death in 2018.

Rex began his career in the lumber business in 1953, when he started working at Gentry Lumber in Jet, Okla. He then moved his family to Tonkawa in 1960 when he became manager and partner of Valley Lumber Company. He later also owned yards in Marland, Billings, and Pond Creek, Okla, and Harper and Anthony, Kansas.

Rex loved his family, his church, fishing, camping, and traveling all over the United States with his wife, Maurine.

In addition to his wife, Rex has been reunited with his parents, William C. and Goldie, his sister Dorotha, and his brothers Donald, and Max.

He is survived by his daughters Madelyn (Kirk) Mittelstet , Marcia (Ralph) Seals, and Meredith (Jet) Williamson, 7 grandchildren, Staci (David) Diaz, Matthew (Jennifer) Mittelstet, Adam (Jennifer) Seals, Ryan (Jalea) Seals, Joshua Williamson, Summer (Daryl) Anderson, and Auburn (Ryan) Rush, and 14 great-grandchildren, Baylor Tibbets, Grey Williamson, Samuel Diaz, Luke, Elijah, and Logan Mittelstet, Selah and Sage Anderson, Shelby and Kaden Rush, Jordyn and Jaxon Seals, and Levi Rex and Iris Seals, as well as Dody Mullikin, Bill and Lois Addington, Eddie and Sue Addington, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions in Rex’s honor may be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 248, Tonkawa, Okla. 74653.
