Obituary for Phyllis Morrison

Ponca City Now - January 8, 2014 12:00 am

Phyllis Ann Morrison formerly of Blackwell, Oklahoma, was granted her angel wings on January 8, 2014, at the age of 71 years. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends.

Phyllis was born on June 24, 1942, in Drumright, Oklahoma, to Lloyd and Edna (Hart) Bookout. As an infant she moved with her family to Port Chicago, California, where she grew up and attended school. She married “the love of her life,” Richard Morrison on March 21, 1980, in Odessa, Texas, and they made Odessa their home. They later moved to Amarillo, Texas, Tonkawa, Oklahoma, and then to Blackwell before moving to Oklahoma City. They always had a marriage of love, laughter and faith. Faith and family were her first two passions in life. Later, rescuing animals became a third passion she pursued. She loved to teach and learn from the Bible and enjoyed having a true and lasting relationship with her Lord.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Morrison; two daughters, Donna Hallum and Mitzie Richardson and husband Jerry; a step-daughter, Barbara Novak; two brothers, Don Bookout and Leland Bookout; a sister, Lorelie Schult; eight grandchildren, Corey and Kelly Bookout, Shannon and John Ellis, Alicia Hardin, Tim Hardin, Taylor Novak and Trevor Novak; a great grandson, James Lincoln Paschall Jr.; and many nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Northwest Nursing Center, OU Medical Center and Crossroads Hospice for their care.

Private family graveside services are being held in the Blackwell Cemetery.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a local animal shelter in her memory.
