Michael DeWayne Trent

November 20, 1961 – March 30, 2019

Michael DeWayne Trent touched the hem of Jesus’ garment on March 30, 2019 when Jesus took him by the hand and took Mike to the promised land to be with the Lord. Mike was born to General Trent and Barbara E. Smith on November 20, 1961 in Cordell, Oklahoma. He had many brothers and sisters.

Mike lived in Cordell for most of his life, attending Cordell Public School and was a member of Cordell First Assembly of God Church. He met the love of his life, Anita Sanchez, whom he married on November 8th, 1997. With this union they brought together 5 children; Tori, Kyia Marie, Daniel, ShawNita and Jacob. Mike worked for many years as a mechanic before going to work for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation from which he retired. Mike and Anita moved to Ponca City during 2017 to be close to his mom and became members of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church.

Nothing made Mike happier than being outdoors. Most of his time was spent either fishing, hunting or camping. Everyone that knew him will fondly remember him for his genuine heart of gold. He loved everyone, all of his family as well as Anita’s family. He was a very loving husband, a wonderful father and grandfather, and helped anyone he could. Spending time with family and friends and spoiling the babies were some of Mike’s greatest pleasures.

Mike is survived by his wife of the home; Anita, their five children; Tori (Josh) Ervin of Cordell, OK, Kyia Marie (Dylan Tharel) Trent of Clinton, OK, Daniel Trent of Cordell, OK, ShawNita (Lane) Stanfield of Sayre, OK and Jacob Dickey of Sayre, OK, ten grandchildren; Jayton, Kaden, Kynzlee, Dayson, Kaeslyn, Aerionna, Hadlee, Marcos, Adaline and Zander, mother, Barbara Smith of Ponca City, OK, siblings; Tony (Barbara) Trent of Shawnee, OK, Colleen Noe of Cordell, OK, Margie Trent, Paul (Mary Ann) Smith of Texas. Along with many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and more friends than are countable. Mike loved each one of ya’ll with all of his heart.

He is preceded in death by his father; General Trent, and siblings; Rita, Bernice, Walter, Kenneth, and Elsie.
