Maurine Elizabeth Williams, formerly of Deer Creek, Oklahoma, died Thursday, January 7, 2021, in Hillcrest Medical South in Tulsa at the age of 90 years.

Maurine Elizabeth Williams was born on June 29, 1930, in Blackwell to Roy Raymond and Ruth Noama (Hicks) Johnston. She grew up attending Blackwell Public Schools and graduated from Blackwell High School in 1948. She married Lavern “Cotton” Williams on June 6, 1948, in Blackwell and they settled in Shawnee where they attended Oklahoma Baptist University. After a year, the couple moved to Alva, Oklahoma, where he completed his education degree and she served her family as a homemaker. Following his graduation they moved to Deer Creek where he taught school and she continued caring for their family. In 1953 he took a teaching job in Anthony, Kansas, and she continued as a homemaker and began driving the school bus. Following retirement, the couple returned to Deer Creek in 1989. Lavern preceded her in death on September 9, 1999, and she continued to make Deer Creek her home until 2011 when she moved to Owasso to be near her daughter. Maurine loved to crochet and was a member of the Methodist Church.

She is survived by her son, Richard Williams and wife Denise of Lewisville, Texas; a daughter, Pamela Williams of Owasso; grandchildren, Travis Williams and wife Michelle of Coalgate, Racquel Countryman and husband Mike of Ada, Heath Williams and wife Lisa of Missouri, Bobbie Clark and husband Kelly of Anthony, Kansas, Tori DeSousa and husband Joseph of Punta Gorde, Florida, Carlen Williams of Hays, Kansas, and Paul Gallup and wife Annette of Orange Park, Florida; Sheila Vrabel and husband Shawn of Goose Creek, South Carolina. Numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Ruth Johnston; husband, Lavern Williams; sons, Gary and Darrell Williams; daughter, Vicky Williams; brothers, Orvin, Wendell and Kenneth Johnston; and a granddaughter, Shawnea Carter.

A graveside service is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 12th in the Blackwell Cemetery with James W. Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
