Mary Marlar

February 20, 1942 – November 25, 2015

Mary Marlar, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed November 25, 2015 at the AllianceHealth Ponca City Medical Center. She was 73 years of age.

Mary was born February 20, 1942 at Yale, Oklahoma, the daughter of Walter Shelton and Mary Marie (Culver) Shelton. She was a 1960 graduate of Cushing High School. She was married to Jerry R. Marlar on November 4, 1966 in Ponca City.

Mary had been employed as an office clerk with Hiland Dairy for 28 years. She was a longtime member of the Woodlands Christian Church. Her enjoyments were spending time with her son Jared and family get togethers.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry, of the home; one son, Jared Marlar and wife Cassy, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Tyler and Ashton; one brother, Sammy Shelton and one step-sister, Karen Bonebreak; other extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Sherry Mayo.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2015 in the Carolyn Renfro Event Center, 445 Fairview, Ponca City. Pastor Steve Cline of Georgetown, Indiana will be the presiding minister. Interment will be in the Longwood Cemetery under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.

Casket bearers are Eric Payne, Justin Gray, Nick Morris, Mike Gideon, Ronnie Marlar and Randy Marlar. Honorary casket bearers are John Knight, Anthony Mears, Guy Marlar, Dale Neidig and Tim Kleinman.
