Mary Martha Brown

July 2, 1965 – February 16, 2018

Mary Martha Warrior Brown of Ponca City has passed into heaven. She was only 52 years old. She was born on July 2, 1965 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Clyde M. Warrior and Della Cheryl Hopper Warrior. She worked as a secretary for the Social Security Department. She married Lamont Brown, II and together they raised six children. She enjoyed music epically tribal music. She liked Al Green. She liked to teach the children how to do the tribal dances. Her favorite song was Jingle. She was a Fancy Shaw dancer. She was a member of the Ponca Nation and a descendant of the Otoe-Missouria tribe. She loved to laugh and often teased to make others laugh. She had a very good sense of humor.

She was preceded in death by her father, Claude Warrior, grandfather Lamont Warrior, grandmother Gloria Moncooyea, grandfather Eugene Brown, Grandmother Mava Brown, and great Grandmother Katie Carson.

She is survived by her husband, Lamont of the home, sons Lamont Brown, III and Odi Brown. Daughters, Cheryl D. Brown, Katie Lynn Brown, Andellaka Brown, and Rosemary Brown. Fourteen grandchildren, two sisters, Andrea Warrior, and Kathleen Honahni. Four step-sisters, Ramona Honahni, Valerie Honahni, Danell Dawes, Delight Humptewa, and many nieces and nephews.

A traditional tribal burial will take place on Monday, February 19, 2018 at the Otoe-Missouria Tribal Center. The noon feast will precede the giveaway and funeral service. Burial will follow at the Ponca Indian Cemetery in Ponca City, OK.
