Marvin Robert Beier, age 84, of Perry, Oklahoma passed away April 17, 2021 at Stillwater Medical – Perry, in Perry, Oklahoma.

A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday April 22, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Perry, OK. Pastor Peter Olson and Pastor Dan Thimell will be officiating. Marvin will be laid to rest at Grace Hill Cemetery following the service. Marvin was born on April 11, 1937 in Perry, Oklahoma to Julius and Alice (Johannes) Beier. He attended Sumner Schools 1st through 12th grade. After graduation in 1955, he rough necked, then in 1958 he joined the 95th Division of the U.S. Army. He was sent to Fort Jackson, SC where he played baseball for his company. Upon returning home from military service, he worked for the Oklahoma Department of Transportation for 38 years. After retiring, he continued working for another 16 years for Brawley Engineering. In September 1959, he married the love of his life, Shirley Smith. They made their home in Perry, OK and attended Zion Lutheran Church where he served on the church council, building committee, and as financial secretary. He also served on the Perry City Council for 5 years and the Perry School Board for 8 years. Marvin coached baseball and softball for his children and played on the Zion Lutheran Church’s softball team, where he was known to hit a home run 9 out of 10 times. Marvin had a passion for gardening and loved giving his vegetables away to his family and friends. Every year his garden had a way of increasing in size.

Survivors include: his wife, Shirley Beier, of Perry, OK; son, Michael (Lori) Beier, daughters, Kim (Craig) Williams, Melinda (Kurt) Bolay, and Lori (Carter Corvin) Pierce, all of Perry, OK; grandkids, Morgan Beier, Garrett Beier, Connor Williams, McCrae Williams, Briley Williams, Kennedy Williams, Chloe Pierce, and Caleb Pierce; brother, Ralph (Vicky) Beier and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding in death were his parents, Julius and Alice Beier; brothers, Leroy Beier and Clifford Beier.

Casketbearers will be Garrett Beier, McCrae Williams, Connor Williams, Caleb Pierce, Aaron Strub, Tim Beier, Chris Peterman, Haiden Moxley, and Eric Smith. Honorary Casketbearers will be Morgan Beier, Briley Williams, Kennedy Williams, and Chloe Pierce.
