Martha Sue Ropp

(June 10, 1946 – July 1, 2016)

Martha Sue Ropp of Lamont, Oklahoma passed away the morning of July 1, 2016 at her home at the age of 70 years.

Martha Sue (Smith) Ropp was born on June 10, 1946 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Clarence Smith and Cora (Hester) Smith. She spent her childhood years in southern Oklahoma, and eventually moved to Amarillo, Texas where she married Chester VanNatta. Following their divorce she moved to Tonkawa, Oklahoma in order to be closer to her sister, Shirley. While in Tonkawa she met and married Virgil Ropp, together they lived in the Deer Creek and Lamont area.

Martha loved to spend her time serving others. Family gatherings and holidays were the moments she treasured most. She had an amazing work ethic, which she demonstrated all of her life.

She is survived by two daughters Tonya Linton and husband John of Lamont, Oklahoma; and Tina VanNatta of Lamont, Oklahoma; two sons Rowdy Ropp and wife Charlotte of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Tracy VanNatta and wife Lek of Thailand; 14 grand children; 10 great grandchildren; brother in law James Anderson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved very much.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a sister Shirley Anderson; and a brother Fred Smith.

A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the Carolyn Renfro Event Center in Ponca City, Oklahoma with Rev. Tom Howard with Hospice of North Central Oklahoma officiating.

Honorary casketbearers will be Don Muegge, Dan Darling, Derrick Darling, Cody Darling, Mario Sanchez, and John Linton.
