Obituary for Martha McVey

Martha Alice (Wolfe) McVey died Monday, April 27, 2015. She was 79. Martha was born in Ponca City, Oklahoma on September 17, 1935 to Denver J. and Helen P. (Moore) Wolfe. She married Leon Thompson and they had 1 son, Steven Thompson. Martha married Bill Brown and they had 2 daughters, Penny and Regina Brown. Martha married Lew McVey and they lived in Ponca City together before moving to Arkansas City, Kansas. There, she worked and later retired from the cafeteria of the Arkansas City Middle School. Martha enjoyed painting, playing solitaire, and poker. She also enjoyed spending time visiting with family and friends. Martha is preceded in death by her daughter Penny and her husband Lew McVey.

She is survived by her son: Steven Thompson and wife Karen of Ponca City; 2 grandchildren: Jessica Yandell and husband Michael, and Steven Ryan Thompson, both of Ponca City; 3 great grandchildren: Tyler Yandell, Dominick Yandell, and Addison Thompson, all of Ponca City; sister: Colleen Grimley of Ark City, KS; brother: William J. Wolfe of Oregon; aunt: Alice Bemen of Silwater, OK; and several nieces and nephews.

She is being cared for by Trout Funeral Home & Crematory and will be cremated. Memorials made be made in her honor to the National Alzheimer’s Association.
