Marlin Gray “Ike” Glass Jr., formerly of Newkirk, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, March 25, 2024, at his home in Stillwater at the age of 89 years and 363 days.

Marlin “Ike” Glass was born March 26, 1934 in Winfield, Kansas, to Marlin Gray and Maxine Elaine (Maxwell) Glass Sr. He graduated from Newkirk High School in 1952.

Ike served in the United States Navy serving during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge he attended Oklahoma State University on a G. I. Bill and received a business degree in 1960.

While in college he married Marybeth Brunsteter on November 22, 1958, in Alva, Oklahoma, and they enjoyed sixty-six years of a loving marriage.

He worked along his father, Marlin Glass Sr., owning and operating Glass Trucking Company until his retirement in July of 2020.

Ike loved watching sports, especially Oklahoma State University. He spent many hours watching his kids enjoy childhood sports. The highlight of his life was spending time with his grandkids. Ike volunteered or served on numerous boards and organizations on the local and state level, including serving for eighteen years on the Oklahoma State Board of Regents and was inducted into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame in 2009. He also served on the Oklahoma Motor Carriers Association as well as president of the Oklahoma State Chamber of Commerce and the Oklahoma State Alumni Association

He was a devout Christian and member of the First Presbyterian Church in Newkirk. He also held membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Marybeth Glass of Stillwater; two children, Rob Glass and wife Laurie of Stillwater and Jennifer (Glass) Johnson and husband Fletcher “Rocky” of Brighton, Michigan; three grandchildren, Ashley (Johnson) Lindsay and husband Austin of Oklahoma City, Garrison Glass of New York City and Jared Glass of Dallas, Texas. Other survivors include siblings, nephews and nieces along with a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant son, Joe Michael Glass.

Services are scheduled for 1:00 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church in Ponca City with Pastor Mark Southard officiating. Burial will be in the Newkirk Cemetery with military rites performed by the United States Navy.

Casketbearers will be Ashley and Austin Lindsay, Garrison Glass, Jared Glass, Gregg Glass, Rocky Johnson and Rex Horning.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to The Ike and Marybeth Glass Veterans Scholarship in the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University.
