Marjorie Roscella Smith – Veteran

(August 27, 1917 – October 29, 2016)

Marjorie Roscella Smith of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Saturday morning, October 29, 2016, in the Blackwell Regional Hospital at the age of 99 years.

Marjorie Roscella Smith was born on August 27, 1917, Kay County east of Chiloco Indian Schools to Marion Ralph and Cora Anna (Rick) Wing. At age three, her family moved to Comanche County where she attended and graduated from Elgin Public Schools. She married Horace Hudgins on August 19, 1939, in Walters, Oklahoma and He preceded her in death on December 11, 1974. She moved to Cedar Valley Kansas in 1948. She then moved to Tonkawa, Oklahoma, in 1965. She married Delmer Smith on July 1, 1976 in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, and he preceded her in death on March 2, 1989. She moved to Blackwell, Oklahoma, in 1981. She belonged to the OHCE, card clubs, enjoyed crocheting, handwork and canning. She volunteered at the Blackwell Hospital for ten years and had a love of life in general.

She is survived by two daughters, Marion Magnus and husband Myrl of Medford, Oklahoma, and Anna Lee Kitchen and husband Jim of Cheney, Kansas; one son, Ralph Hudgins of Laverne, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands.

Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at the First Baptist Church, Blackwell, Oklahoma, with Rev. Randy Ratliff, First Baptist Church, Blackwell, officiating. Burial is scheduled for 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at the Apache Cemetery, Apache, Oklahoma.

Honorary casketbearers will be Monty Magnus and Jim Hudgins. Casketbearers will be Micky Kitchen, Mike Kitchen, Matt Kitchen, Casey Cink, Cody Magnus and Colton Kitchen.
