Marilyn Kay Snook Sheely

December 11, 1943 – June 24, 2017

Marilyn Kay Sheely, age 73, former long-time Ponca City resident, passed away June 24, 2017 in Tulsa, OK.

Friends and loved ones may pay their respects at Trout Funeral Home from 12pm-8pm Wednesday, June 28 with the family greeting friends from 6pm-8pm. A ceremony to gratefully celebrate her new life with Christ will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, June 29, 2017 at Northeast Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Nigh officiating. Following the ceremony, she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Clyde. Casket bearers will be her grandsons. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home and Crematory.

Marilyn was born on December 11, 1943, to Clifton and Louise Snook in Winfield, Kansas. She graduated from Winfield High School in 1961. In 1963, she married Marvin L. Wilkinson, and to that union a daughter, Michelle LeAnn, was born. Upon her graduation, she first worked in the offices of Binney & Smith in Winfield from 1961 until 1971, but once she moved to Ponca City in 1973, she worked in several local offices: Central Manufacturing, Frontier Federal Savings and Loan, Conoco Inc, Hartford Insurance, and Edward Jones. She married Clyde Q. Sheely in July of 1981, and celebrated 30 years of marriage until his passing in 2011. She moved to Broken Arrow to live with her daughter and son in law in November of 2016.

Marilyn loved the fine arts, and enjoyed oil painting at the Art Center whenever time allowed. She had a passion for serving Jesus, and to that calling, she participated in the Northeast Baptist Church Choir and in other areas of the church such as: teaching Sunday school and vacation bible school, serving at Friendship Feast as well as helping with funeral dinners. She held leadership roles in the Ponca City Christian Women’s Club, Bible Study Fellowship and Explorers Bible Study.

Marilyn delighted in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. As a survivor of cancer two separate times, once in 1967 and again in 2004, Marilyn in both instances gave glory to God for the added years He gave her to enjoy her family and to work in areas to promote the gospel of Jesus Christ to others through Biblical truths.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Norma Snook, Shirley Grant, Vernon Snook, Richard Snook and her husband Clyde Q. Sheely.

Survivors include her cherished daughter, Michelle Proctor and her husband Tony of Broken Arrow, OK, dear stepson, Stephen Sheely and his wife Marla of Fayetteville, AR, adored stepdaughters, Pam Dickerson and her husband Don of Ponca City, and Tiffany Young and her husband Bert of Wilkesboro, NC, and eleven treasured grandchildren: Kirsten Clostio and husband Tyler; Brittany Stroup and husband Donald (Keith); and Ethan Proctor and his wife Toni; Lindsey and Davis Dickerson; Jordan, John and Joseph Sheely; Lily Kate, Gwyneth and Ainsley Young and three great-grandchildren, Damien, Hunter and Willow Clostio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Northeast Baptist Church, 2200 N. Pecan Road, Ponca City, OK 74604.
