December 15, 1928 – December 30, 2020

Marcene Marie Young, resident of Ponca City passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Via Christi Village with family by her side. She was 92.

The graveside service will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Resthaven Memorial Park with the Rev Justin Pickup pastor Osage Heights Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory. A public viewing will be held Tuesday, January 5th from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. Masks are encouraged. For those unable to attend, the ceremony will be live streamed. Marcene was born on December 15, 1928 in Tonkawa, OK to Harold James Mead and Irene Bell (Muegge) Mead. She attended Ponca City High School graduating in 1946, she furthered her education at Williams Woods Women’s College in Fulton, Missouri.
On July 16, 1948 she married Calvin Carl Young at First Christian Church in Ponca City and together they had 3 children: Tracy, Wesley and Spencer. Marcene worked for the US Government in 1949 while her husband was called back into service in San Antonio. She spent 25 years at Conoco, retiring in 1985 as the refinery manager’s secretary.

Marcene was very active in Ponca City Mothers Club for many years. She served as President in 1961-1962 and was hostess on many occasions. Marcene and Calvin were coordinators for the Meals on Wheels program for 27 years. She and Calvin spent many years of traveling to other countries. One of her favorite trips was taking 14 family members to Disney World in 1992. She had a passion for playing bridge with her close friends. Occasionally she would win high and would brag about her big winnings, a dollar.

She is survived by: her three sons Tracy Young and wife Cindy, Wesley Young and wife Melissa and Spencer Young all of Ponca City, sister Jonece Paynter, of Ponca City, grandchildren, Ashley Young, Lindsey Young, Josh Young, Andrew Young, Aaron Young, Jennifer Morken, Benjamin Young, Victoria Young and Alexander Young. 17 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents and husband Calvin Carl Young.
