Loren Correll Jr – Veteran

August 19, 1924 – September 19, 2018

Loren Correll Jr. longtime Ponca City resident passed away Wednesday morning, September 19, 2018 in Ponca City with his loving family by his side. He was 94 years of age. Loren was born on August 19, 1924 in Kaw City, OK to Loren Correll Sr and Ella Whitson Correll.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, September 21, 2018 in the First Lutheran Church with Pastor Jeremy May officiating. Interment will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery in Ponca City, OK. Visitation will be held Thursday evening until 8 p.m. at Grace Memorial Chapel of Ponca City with the family in attendance from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to receive friends. The family has asked memorial contributions to be made to the First Lutheran church or Hospice of North Central Oklahoma.

Loren joined the United States Navy in 1943 and was honorable discharged in 1946. Loren met the love of his life Gerry Hazen and they were married on January 16, 1954 in Perry, OK and they made their home in Ponca City. Loren worked for the Oklahoma State department of Highways from July 1946 to May of 1956 and he went to work driving a cement truck until 1972 for Rock Island Redi mix and joined Sober Brothers driving a dump truck which was the cleanest one in their fleet. He retired in 1986. Loren had a passion for cars and he loved to work on them and detail them out and that is where his sons got their passion for cars. He also enjoyed sitting on his front porch swing and attending American Legion Functions which he was a longtime member.

Survivors include: wife Gerry of the home, 2 sons; Bill Correll and wife Bambi, Steve Correll and wife Angela both of Ponca City, OK. 1 sister: Margaret Burnett of Ponca City, 4 grandchildren; Jennifer Haug and husband Danny of Tonganoxie, KS, Kyle Correll and wife Lacy, Cory Correll and wife Lacey, Molly Carter and husband Levi all of Ponca City Loren also has 9 great grandchildren he loved to spend time with spoiling and numerous nieces and nephews.

Loren was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers; Bill Correll and Marvin (Sonny) Morris.
