Lindsay was born on Sept 21, 1944 in Leicester, England to M/Sgt John L. Jones and Leila C. Jones. He came to America with his family when he was two years old. Since his dad was a career Army soldier, he lived at several Army Bases/towns in the US. The family also got to spend 2 years in Italy and 4 years in Germany while his Dad was stationed there. In 1954, his family came back to the US, where his Dad was stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX. After living there for 6 years, Lindsay came to Eastern Oklahoma and stayed at the Cookson Hills Home for two years. After he left the Cookson Home he wanted to stay in Beaver. He resided with Laverne and Lavera Henson in Beaver until graduating from High School in 1963. Laverne and Lavera treated him as a son, paying for his college and becoming grandparents to Lindsay’s children.

Lindsay graduated from Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva with a Bachelor of Natural Science Degree with a Biology Major and Math, Physics, and Chemistry minors. Lindsay started his teaching/coaching career at Forgan, OK. He worked on his Master’s Degree during his time at Forgan. In 1975, he received his Master’s Degree in Biology from Kansas State University in Pittsburg, KS. Continuing his coaching career he taught/coached in Tonkawa, OK for two years. After two years there, Lindsay got an offer to take a position as a salesperson and later as a District Manager in the irrigation industry. After five years of traveling Monday through Friday and frequent moves from state to state, Lindsay transitioned to a job where he could be home with his family. He moved to Ponca City, OK in 1982, where he became a successful insurance agent for many years. After retiring from that, Lindsay reentered the teaching profession for another ten years, teaching in Shidler and Deer Creek- Lamont.

Lindsay enjoyed traveling, reading and gardening when he was able.

He was a great dad and a great grandpa. He worked hard, and everything he did and every decision he made was for his loved one’s benefit and well-being.

The last several years were not easy for him due to many health issues, but his drive to keep fighting and to be strong through all his health issues matched the determination he displayed in providing for his family.

He was a great role model for how to be a husband and father. Lindsay’s family and loved ones will continue to benefit from his example.

He was preceded in death by his father and younger sister, Yvette, of Cedar. Rapids, IA. He is survived by family members: mother, Leila Jones and older sister Clare of Ponca City, a younger brother, Courtenay Jones and family of Williamsburg, VA, another brother and family Carrington Jones of Colorado Springs, CO.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to the Integris Foundation in Oklahoma City at 3030 NW Expressway, Suite 1600 Oklahoma City, OK 73112.
