(July 10, 1952 – April 13, 2017)

Linda Ann Mayden of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died early Thursday morning, April 13, 2017, in the O.U. Medical Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 64 years.

Linda Ann Mayden was born on July 10, 1952, in Blackwell to Jerrie Lee and Bonnie Lee (Wynn) Childers. She grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Public Schools and graduated from Blackwell High School in 1970. She then furthered her education in Kansas City before returning to Blackwell and began working for Credit Thrift. She married Carl Eugene Mayden on September 2, 1972, in Braman and they settled in Blackwell where she served her family as a homemaker. In the early 1980’s she began working for the Blackwell Public Schools as a teaching assistant before working at the Blackwell Public Library where she retired as head librarian. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and participated in Leadership Blackwell. She was an avid reader and enjoyed watching sports. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Carl Mayden of Blackwell; two daughters, Christie Brown and husband Chad of Blackwell and Carla Lott and husband Jeremy of Bixby; a sister, Sharon Layton and husband Russell of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; four grandchildren, Megan and Blake Brown of Blackwell and Carter and Abby Lott of Bixby; and niece, Tahlia Layton of Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and an infant brother at birth.

Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 18th in the First Baptist Church in Blackwell with Rev. Randy Ratliff officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be James Mayden, Darrell Mayden, Donnie Mayden, Michael Blunk, Gary Williams and Scott Pennington.

A memorial has been established in her honor with the Blackwell Public Library in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
