Leonard Dennison Sr. – Veteran

(March 13, 1932 – July 14, 2016)

Leonard F. Dennison passed away at his home on Thursday, July 14, 2016 surrounded by his family. Leonard was born March 13, 1932 in Ponca City, OK. He graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School in Ponca City and attended Northern Oklahoma College until his draft notice to join the Army during the Korean War. He served in the United States Army from 1953 – 1955. He married the love of his life, Sally Jean Perry, on September 1, 1956. They made their home in Osage County where they raised 3 children, Lenny, Mark and Sharon. Leonard enjoyed coaching his sons in little league baseball at Ray Lessert Field. He was an avid bowler for over 40 years and was inducted into the ABC Ponca City Hall of Fame in 2000. He loved golfing, fishing, camping and relaxing on the deck every evening overlooking the Arkansas River. Leonard never met a stranger and loved to share stories from his past and of his family. He enjoyed vacationing in Hawaii many times and Caribbean cruises.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Adele Dennison, siblings, Bert Dennison, Florence Wilson, Lenora Crisp, Henry Dennison, Evangeline Dennison and Tommy Joe Dennison.

He is survived by his wife, Sally of the home, 3 children, Leonard (Lenny) Dennison and wife Monica of Ponca City, Mark Dennison and wife Rachael of Fairfax, Sharon Dennison of Ponca City, and grandson, Parker Dennison of Stillwater, OK.

The Mass of Christian Burial Service will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Family and friends may pay their respects at Trout Funeral Home on Sunday, July 17, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Monday, July 18, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. A wake service will be held on Monday, July 18, 2016 at Trout Funeral Home Chapel at 7:00 p.m.
