LaVelle Pewewardy

January 24, 1951 – April 21, 2016

LaVelle Pewewardy, age 65, of Ponca City, passed away peacefully with family by her side at Ponca City Hospital on April 21, 2016.

LaVelle was born January 24, 1951 in Pawnee, Oklahoma to Virginia Rose and Ralph Pewewardy. She graduated from Ponca City High School in 1968. She went on the OU to study art, and later to SIPI in Albuquerque to study more art. She was very proud of her artwork. She became ill and her last few years were at the Willow Haven Rest Home in Tonkawa.

Survivor include her only sister Louise Roy of Ponca City, OK, Two daughters Adrianna Eagle, and LaRena Losh of Iowa, 12 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Lavelle is preceded in death by her mother and father, brother Michael Pewewardy, two sisters Julia Bear and Jody Takeuchi from Los Angeles, CA.

Funeral Services are scheduled for Monday, April 25, 2016 with the traditional feast at the Ponca Tribal Cultural Center in White Eagle, Oklahoma. Burial will follow in the Ponca Tribal Cemetery under the direction of the Grace Memorial Chapel. Friends may sign the online register book at www.gracememorialchapel.net.

Casketbearers will be John M. Pewewardy, Steve Bear, Wesley Bear, and Adelbert Steeprock. Honorary Casketbearers will be Curtis Primeaux, Anthony Street, Kennis Headman and Vincent Salinas.
