January 2, 1933 – June 22, 2023

The Baumert family mourns the loss of L. Enloe Baumert, who passed away on June 23, 2023, at age 90. To his family, he was a role model who led by example and whose knowledge and guidance was the foundation of the family. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 8, 2023, at First United Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W. Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK, 74601.

Enloe was born on January 2, 1933, in McAlester, Oklahoma. He was an only child and had an unsettled childhood. He found his home when he moved to Ponca City and met his wife of 58 years, Wanda June Lane. They raised a son and two daughters in Ponca City.

Enloe received his undergraduate degree from Oklahoma State University and his Law degree from Oklahoma University. He practiced Business and Corporate Law, and Estate Planning.

Enloe was a proud American and served 4 years in the United States Air Force before transferring to the Air Force Reserves in the Judge Advocates office. He served his country for 39 years and was awarded the Quilt of Valor in 2022. Enloe was civic minded and served Ponca City through work with the Ponca City Public Schools, Chamber of Commerce, YMCA, and The Opportunity Center, to name a few.

Enloe and Wanda enjoyed lake trips with family friends, Oklahoma State University sports and traveling extensively through Europe. They also took their children and grandchildren on trips overseas and the family vacationed in Florida every year. Golf was a passion Enloe enjoyed and was the destination for many vacations.

Enloe is preceded in death by his wife Wanda June Baumert and son Brad Enloe Baumert. He is survived by his daughters, Terri Merveldt and Karen Karnes; his grandchildren, Eric Merveldt, Whitney Randall, Ally Gore, and Vince Karnes; their spouses Chad Randall, Sam Gore and Libby Karnes; and great-grandchildren Abby and Emma Merveldt, Dillon and Hayden Randall, and Elliot and Maxine Gore.

The family will carry on traditions that have left a lasting imprint, including time at the lake, playing Rummikub and Gin Rummy, and traveling. He continues his journey with our admiration, respect, and love.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Enloe’s name to the Marland’s Children’s Home 1300 Summers Pl, Ponca City, OK 74604.
