June Leanora McBride of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died early Thursday morning, May 13, 2021, in the Willow Haven Nursing Home in Tonkawa at the age of 83 years.

June Leanora McBride was born on June 17, 1937, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, to Johnny Leon and Alta Hazel (Black) Mardis. As a young girl she moved with her family to Blackwell where she attended Blackwell Public Schools graduating from Blackwell High School. Following her education she married Bill Eugene Riley in Blackwell and she served her family as a homemaker. She later married Omar Vermillion and they moved to Garden City, Kansas, to make their home. While there, she attended Garden City Community College where she earned her license as a registered nurse. She then began working at the Garden City Hospital. Following her husband’s death, she returned to Blackwell and began working at the Ponca City Medical Center. She married J. P. McBride on June 8, 2000, in Blackwell and she continued as a registered nurse until her retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family and many animal friends.

She is survived by a son, John Riley and wife Deborah of Blackwell; two daughters, Linda Ketchum and husband Jim of Nowata and Shari Clark of Blackwell; a step-daughter, Judy Edwards and husband Mark of Parsons, Kansas; two step-sons, Doyle and Dale Vermillion; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Diana Cook; two brothers; two sisters; and two great granddaughters, Kaylee Thompson and Amaya Lokey.

Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 17th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with James W. Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
