John L. Allensworth

December 5, 1942 – May 6, 2022

John Lawrence Allensworth, resident of Ponca City, passed away Friday, May 6, 2022. He was 79. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK 74601.

Viewing will be 9 am – 8 pm, Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Trout Funeral Home. Services will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Carolyn Renfro Center, Ponca City, OK.

John Lawrence Allensworth was born in Vinita, OK December 05, 1942. He attended grade school in Vinita and graduated high school from Avenal, CA. John served in the army from 1966-1968 and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was employed with the City of Ponca City Water and Light Dept. (Ponca City Energy) from 1968-2005, retiring as a Line Supervisor. He married Anita Cox in January 1970, and celebrated 52 years of marriage. He and Anita were blessed with 2 children and 3 grandchildren. John was always bigger than life, a friend to everyone, and a stranger to no one. He always had a smile and a joke to brighten your day. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, camping, fishing, hunting, 4 wheeling, motorcycles, boating, and helping the Boy Scouts. He loved the outdoors, flea markets, and pawn shops.

Survivors include wife, Anita Allensworth of Ponca City, OK; son, Brad Allensworth (Missey Allensworth) of Ponca City, OK; daughter Lori Johnson (Quentin Barnhart) of Bartlesville, OK; grandchildren, Quintin Allensworth, Preston Allensworth, and Emma Johnson; brothers, Jerry Allensworth and James Allensworth, both of Ponca City, OK; sisters, Nancy Byrd of North Carolina, Aretta Saunders of Ponca City, OK; stepbrother, Terry Jordan; stepsister, Deanna Raulston, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding in his death were parents John Allensworth and Mildred Jordan; brothers, Raymond Raulston, Gary Jordan, and Robert Jordan; and sister, Jeanne Cauldwell.

Pallbearers will be Quintin Allensworth, Preston Allensworth, Quentin Barnhart, Sean Edgar, Rick Allensworth, and Chad Allensworth.

Honorary Casket bearers will be Jerry Allensworth, James Allensworth, Russell Cox, Dennis Sanders, Bill Selby, and Brian Holley.
