Obituary for Johanne Mead

Johanne Mead, entered eternal rest on July 13, 2014. Johanne was born August 10, 1925 to Ola Mae Fowler and Lacy Ollie Fleenor in Gainesville, Texas. The family moved to Ponca City in June of 1935 where Johanne remained for the next 75 years.

She loved her town and was proud to tell people she was from Ponca City. She graduated from Ponca City High when she was only 16 years old and succeeded her way up the career ladder to executive secretary at Conoco for over 35 years. She had a daughter, Dianna (Lacy) Lynn Shields and married the love of her life, Don Mead, on March 8, 1956. She was a member of the Sage, Rosemary and Thyme Gardening Club, loved playing Bridge, loved her dogs and was an avid traveler.

She is survived by her daughter, Dianna (Lacy) Lynn Shields, two granddaughters Lacy Shablis Shields and husband Johnny Culpepper and Amber Nichole Shields and husband Mark Johnson, grandchildren Coco Bella Culpepper, Cruz Patrick Culpepper, and Raymond Lonestar Johnson, Charly Lacy Rose Johnson, nieces: Carla Arrington and husband Gerald; Janice Inskeep and husband Keith and nephews: Mike and Ted Dempster.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Don Mead on November 1, 1988; one sister, Lacy Rose Dempster, brother-in-law John Dempster, and brother Lacy Ollie Fleenor.

A service is scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, July 18, at the Grace Memorial Chapel with Pastor Susan Payne of Community Christian Church presiding. Interment will follow in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery. The family has requested that people attending wear white.
