Joan Judith Curtis, age 80, of Perry, Oklahoma passed away December 8, 2021 at Green Valley Nursing Home in Perry, Oklahoma.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Zion Lutheran Church in Perry with Pastors Peter Olsen and Dan Thimmell officiating. Joan will be laid to rest at Zion Cemetery following the service.

Joan was born on May 31, 1941 in Perry, Oklahoma to Arlie and Leona (Beier) Musick. Joan grew up on a farm east of Perry. She graduated from Perry High School in 1959 and later furthered her education at Cosmetology School.

Joan married James H. Curtis at the Zion Lutheran Church in Perry on June 1, 1962. She served alongside her husband in France as he served in the military. Joan always placed family and faith first in her life. She was a lifelong devoted member of the Zion Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and served as Superintendent. She loved to bake and enjoyed canning fruits and vegetables from her own garden. She was especially known for her peach cobbler and Yum Yum cake. Together with her husband they started numerous small businesses including Curtis Honey Farm and Curtis Building Center. Later in life Joan was a daycare teacher at the First United Methodist Church of Edmond. Joan was always present and a part of her children and grandchildren’s lives in a very tangible way. She shaped each of them to be the person they are today. She loved her grandkids and great grands. It was very evident by those who knew her.

Survivors include: her children, Joy Gilbreath, and her husband, Jay, Jan Kukuk, and her husband, Tony, and James Curtis, and his wife, Cheryl; three brothers, Gerald Musick and the late Florene Musick, Roger Musick, and his wife, Deborah, and Craig Musick, and his wife, Susan; two sisters, Sandra Little, and her husband, James and Kimberly Hefley, and her husband, Daniel; grandchildren, Joshua and Rhiannon Gilbreath, Jacob and Kara Gilbreath, Brant and Amy Kukuk, Trevor and Sydney Kukuk, Camber Curtis and Callie Curtis; great grandchildren, Alli Kukuk, Emery Kukuk, Lacey Kukuk, Baby Kukuk, Lennon Gilbreath, Silas Gilbreath, and Baby Gilbreath; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James H. Curtis and her parents, Arlie and Leona Musick.

Casketbearers will be Joshua Gilbreath, Jacob Gilbreath, Brant Kukuk, Trevor Kukuk, Camber Curtis, and Callie Curtis.

Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home of Perry, 1408 N 7th St, Perry, OK 73077. Memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Lutheran Youth and/ or Sunday School in care of Trout Funeral Home of Perry, 1408 N. 7th St., Perry, Oklahoma 73077.
