Jimmie D. “Jim” Wilson of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Saturday evening, August 11, 2018, at his home at the age of 68 years.

Jimmie D. “Jim” Wilson was born on January 4, 1950, in Lawton, Oklahoma to Dudley Lee and Reva Geraldine (Evans) Wilson. As a young boy he moved with his family to Tonkawa where he attended Tonkawa Public Schools. Following his education he married Carla Deann Porter on January 19, 1968, in Blackwell and they settled in Blackwell where he worked for the Blackwell Zinc Company. In 1973 they moved to Pond Creek, Oklahoma, and began working for Great Lakes Carbon. In the late 1970’s they returned to Blackwell he began working for Continental Carbon in Ponca City and worked there for twenty-five years before his retirement. He was preceded in death by his wife on December 24, 2003, and he continued to make Blackwell his home. He married Sharon Steelmon on June 21, 2008, in Blackwell and they made Blackwell their home. He was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Blackwell. He enjoyed playing golf and was jokingly referred to by his buddies as “chisler.” In addition he loved bowling, camping, gospel music and bird watching. His greatest hobby was fishing for crappie and catfish and he enjoyed sharing his catch with family and friends at various fish fries. His family was very important to Jim as he spent many hours attending family gatherings, especially his grandchildren’s activities.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Wilson of Blackwell; two daughters, Tammie Little and husband Paul of Ponca City, and Brandi Dembowski and husband Ryan of Lincoln, Nebraska; a son, Scott Wilson and wife Theresa of Camas, Washington; two step-sons, Darrell Steelmon and wife Lea Anne of Blackwell and Mark Steelmon and wife Christy of El Dorado, Arkansas; a sister, Judy Gard of Blackwell; two brothers, Dave Wilson and wife Lorna of Ponca City and Mark Wilson and wife Mary of Blackwell; twelve grandchildren, Ryan and Carson Wilson, Bryce and Payton Little, Jordan and Carly Dembowski, Candace Moore, Cadee and Tabor Steelmon, and Addison, Carson and Emerson Steelmon; two great grandchildren, McKynlee and McKaylen Moore; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jerry Wilson; and a grandson, Matthew Little.

Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 14th in the First Free Will Baptist Church in Blackwell with Rev. Kevin Bookout officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Nolan Jones, Frank Johns, Dannie LaBlue, Gene Grace, Jose Arteaga and Rich Johnson. Serving as honorary casketbearers will be Wayne Bookout, Jack Bookout, Richard Moses, John Waycaster and Don Taylor.
