Jean Ann Atterberry Ihrig

September 1, 1927 – December 30, 2019

Jean Ann Atterberry was born on September 1, 1927 in Weleetka, Oklahoma to Jack and Johnnie Atterberry. She graduated from Weleetka High School as Valedictorian of her senior class in 1945, and then went to Oklahoma State University where she worked as an au pair for the Dean of the Business College at OSU.

She met Billie Ihrig at the hardware store in Weleetka. He was working there after being honorably discharged from the Army Air Corp. and she was working while on a break from school. They were married on July 28, 1946 in Weleetka and went on to have three children, Jonathan Caleb, Mark Andrew and Sally Ann. They moved to Sand Springs where she worked as a secretary for Dowell from 1950 to 1955 and then she worked as secretary of the First Christian Church of Sand Springs, where she was president of the CFW. She and Billie were active with the youth groups. In 1981 they moved to Blackwell where she was an active member of the First Christian Church until failing health prevented her from attending.

She is survived by her children, Jon Ihrig and wife Barbara, Mark Ihrig and wife Debby, and Sally O’Mealey. Grandchildren, Jared Ihrig and wife Brenda, Erin DuRoy and husband Michael, Sarah Koepp and husband Billy, Chad Ihrig and wife Laura, Chris Ihrig and wife Shasta, Ryan O’Mealey, Drew Ihrig and wife Jordan, Shane O’Mealey and wife Kristye, Brian Ihrig and wife Lindsey, Caitlin Barnes and husband Craig, and Juliann Ihrig. Brother David Atterberry and wife Ruth and brother-in-law, Tommy Ihrig. 24 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and her beloved friend Sindi Wolfe.

She was preceded in death by her husband Billie Ihrig, her mother and father, sisters – Louise Atterberry and Dorothy Blackman, brother John Edward Atterberry, Jr., sisters-in-law – Neta Horton, Marcella Haskins, Peggy Ihrig, Ruby Nell Ihrig. Brothers-in-law – Rayburn Horton, Gene Haskins and Bruce Blackman.

Services will be held at First Christian Church in Blackwell on Thu, January 2, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Mannford, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers will be grandsons: Jared Ihrig, Chad Ihrig, Drew Ihrig, Ryan O’Mealey, Shane O’Mealey, Chris Ihrig, Brian Ihrig, Craig Barnes, Michael DuRoy, and Billy Koepp.

Honorary pallbearers are: Erin DuRoy, Sarah Koepp, Caitlin Barnes, Juliann Ihrig, Kristye O’Mealey, Lindsey Ihrig, Shasta Ihrig, Laura Ihrig, Brenda Ihrig, and Jordan Ihrig.
