Jane Storrusten

December 28, 1938 – October 11, 2019

Jane Ann Storrusten was born in Livingston, Montana on December 28, 1938. At the age of 12, she was adopted and lived with her foster parents until she was 17 in Laurel, Montana. In Laurel, she married her loving husband, John, with whom she recently celebrated 62 years of marriage. John worked for Conoco in Roundup, Montana, which allowed them to travel the next five years. During this time, they had one son, Jack and twin daughters, Corliss and Clarissa. The family settled in Ponca City, where she enjoyed home-making, her animals and fishing.

Jane was know as the “Bunny Lady” because of her devotion to making over 3,000 stuffed bunnies and colorful cloth bags with handles for children of abuse to carry their personal belongings in as they went thru the court system. She delivered these to the Police department and other agencies for them to give to children affected by crime and abuse. Because of her generosity and compassion, she was awarded the Governor’s Commendation from Governor Frank Keating. She also received a certificate from the Department of Justice Office for Victims of Crime as a salute for her efforts to ensure that victims rights and services are not only celebrated annually, but daily. She was also a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in Ponca City.

Family was very important to Jane. She will be remembered as a giving, loving wife, mother and grandmother.
