Jack Frank James, affectionately known as “Corky”, age 81, long-time Ponca City resident, passed away on December 27th, 2022 at his home. Viewing will be from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Monday, January 2, 2023 at Trout Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at the First Presbyterian Church in Ponca City, Oklahoma, with Rev. Tom Howard officiating. Jack was born in Cushing, Oklahoma to Frank and Jennie (Caulkins) James on October 5th, 1941. After graduating from Cushing High School, Jack joined the U.S. Navy with the Construction Battalion 5. He was honorably discharged as a construction mechanic 3rd class in August 1962. Jack married Bonita (Hollingsworth) James on October 6th, 1962. Jack worked in automotive parts and repair in Stillwater, OK, then was employed by Sequoia, then Conoco for 38 years. Jack retired as journeyman electrician. Jack and Bonita raised two sons, Steven and David.

Jack is survived by: his wife, Bonita of Ponca City, his son, Steven and wife Susan; granddaughter, Rachel (James) Donelson; his son, David and wife Michelle; granddaughters, Hannah and Sarah James. Jack was preceded in death by his parents and 8 siblings, Eva, Viola, Virginia May, Lorene, Helen, Marjorie, Archie and Raymond.

Jack was an active member and very involved with the First Presbyterian Church in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He was a Deacon, Trustee and Elder. Jack volunteered with the Boy Scouts to be a Pack Leader and then up to Assistant Scoutmaster. Jack earned the Wood Badge, Silver Beaver and reached the rank of The Vigil in the Order of Arrow. Jack would also volunteer a week or two each summer at the Will Rogers Scout Camp. After retiring, Jack volunteered with Habitat for Humanity in building 18 houses and helped establish the Restore. Jack also volunteered, along with his wife, delivering meals for the Meals on Wheels program.

Jack enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and reading.
