Ivan Reutter

(October 2, 1926 – August 25, 2015)

Ivan Reutter of Blackwell, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at the Blackwell Regional Hospital due to complications of COPD at the age of 88 years.

Ivan Fred Reutter was born on October 2, 1926, in Autwine, Oklahoma to Johannes Rudolph and Wilhelmina Josephine (Hausler) Reutter. He was very proud of his heritage; both of his parents immigrated to the United States from Europe when they were children. He was the middle child of five boys. On September 14, 1957, he married Freda Maxine Ludlow in Farmington, New Mexico and she preceded him in death on November 28, 2000. To this union, Janet Marie Reutter was born. He was a proud and hardworking man; working as many as three jobs at one time to provide for his family. One of his proudest moments was when Janet graduated from Emporia State University. While visiting family in Blackwell, he reconnected with his Childhood sweatheart, Ruth Ann Romine. They were married November 19, 2001. He then moved from Lawrence, Kansas, to Blackwell. Ivan enjoyed fishing, boating, camping, collecting gems and minerals and woodcarving. He loved spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Ann Reutter of Blackwell, Oklahoma; one daughter, Janet Reutter of Shawnee, Kansas; four nieces, Debbie Sibley and husband Paul, Valerie Arthurs and husband Allen, Margaret Ripperda and husband Duane, and Margie Lawson and husband Mark; one nephew, Carl Reutter Jr. and wife Joyce; two sister-in-laws, Madelien , wife of Carl Reutter, and Jean Ann Reutter, wife of Leonard Reutter; and many friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Carl Reutter, Johnny Reutter, Marvin Reutter and Leonard Reutter.

Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 29, 2015, at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Blackwell, Oklahoma, with Rev. Ned Moerbe officiating.
