Obituary for Hubert Mcintyre

Hubert Lee Mcintyre was born on October 4th, 1927, in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. His parents were Cal Lee Mcintyre and Lillie French Mcintyre. The family moved to a farm east of Blackwell in 1932. He started his education in the one room Excelsior country school. He later attended Blackwell Public Schools and graduated from Blackwell high School in 1945.

He enlisted into the United states navy in World War II. He was seventeen at the time and served aboard the PGM29, LST1087 and PC476. He was honorably discharged in the late 1946 and took his freshman year at the University of Pittsburgh, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He transferred to the University of Oklahoma and graduated with Bachelor or History degree in 1951. He was a member of Delta Chi Fraternity.

He married Marye Lou Dorsett on august 18th, 1951. they made their home in Wichita, Kansas where he was employed by Boeing Aircraft Company as a production planner specializing in electric wiring. He later became administrative assistant to the superintendent of Plant 1 manufacturing division.

In 1954, he and Marye Lou came to Tonkawa where he entered the grocery business with his father- in – law "Pete" Dorsett. He and Marye Lou owned and operated Dorsett’s IGA for over 30 years before retiring. He was active in community affairs, serving as president of the Chamber of Commerce, ions Club, United Way, Commander of the American legion. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Tonkawa where he has served in the past as chairman of the administrative board of the Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, football, basketball, and traveling. He loved to read and volunteered at the Tonkawa Elementary School reading with young students.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother Howard Mcintyre. He is survived by his wife, Marye Lou, Two sons- Jim Mcintyre and wife LeeAnn of Edmond John Mcintyre and wife Debbie of Tonkawa, 4 grandchildren; Jillian conaghan and husband Brian of Stillwater, Jay Mcintyre of Tonkawa, Steven Mcintyre of Oklahoma City and Lauren Mcintyre of Oklahoma City, one sister; Doris Haddican or Tulsa, nieces; Linda Stahl and husband Dan of Ponca City, Jodi Smith and husband Jim of Ponca City, one nephew; Mike Haddican and wife Mary of Tulsa.

The service will take place at 2 pm on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at the United Methodist Church of Tonkawa. A burial will follow at the Tonkawa IOOF cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the United Methodist Church of Tonkawa building maintenance fund. 401 East Grand. Tonkawa, OK 74653
