Henrietta "Socky Sue" Lizzette DeLano Williams

September 27, 1926 – January 5, 2016

Henrietta Lizzette DeLano Williams, age 89 years and three months passed on to her heavenly home on Tuesday January 5, 2016 at a family home in Ponca City.

Henrietta, know to most as Socky Sue, was born to Theodore Delano and Clara Jones in Washunga, OK on September 27, 1926. She grew up in and around the Washunga and Kaw City area, attending school at Washunga and Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Kansas.

Soc was united in marriage to Frank Williams in April 1952; he preceded her in death in 1982. They made their home in Tonkawa and after her youngest child started school, Henrietta started working. She worked many years as a waitress, also in the food services at NOC and the Wheatheart Senior Center and at Southwest Cupid in Blackwell. She moved to her home in Newkirk in 1998. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newkirk and was greatly saddened when she was no longer able to attend.

Soc loved life and her family, especially her grandchildren. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family. Everybody always went to eat at Grandma Soc’s house. She loved to watch football and basketball, especially OU. In her past time she loved doing arts and crafts, making earrings and beautiful crocheted blankets, and was an excellent seamstress. Her hands were never idle.

Survivors include her sons, Earl and wife Martha; Frank Jr. and companion Mary Starr. Daughter, Lynn Dunson and husband David. Twenty six-grandchildren, including Frankie Littledeer, Katherine Romero and Rebecca Monhatwa. Sixty five great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Frank Williams, she was preceded in death by both parents and the dad who raised her, John Downs;three brothers, Tehran DeLano, William DeLano and Phillip Pappan, two daughters, Roberta Phillips and Lila Tah and one son, William Buffalohead.

A wake service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday January 7, 2016 at the Johnny Ray McCauley building East of Newkirk. A traditional noon meal will be served on Friday and funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Friday January 8, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Newkirk. Interment will be at the Washunga Cemetery.

Casket Bearers will Be Marvin Williams, Ronnie Butler, Jeff Monhatwa, Rudy Garcia, Michael DeLano and Sean Dole.

Honorary Casket Bearers will be Damien Littledeer, Daniel Romero, Devon Littledeer, Eddie Phillips and Butch Power.
