Obituary for Harold Plumer

Harold H. Plumer, age 85, resident of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away February 23, 2015 in Ponca City.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, February 27, 2015 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Newkirk with Reverend Mark Mozeik officiating. Burial will then follow at the Newkirk Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.

Harold was born on January 5, 1930 to Herman John Plumer and Marie Bensinger Plumer in Rural Kay County, OK. He graduated from Newkirk High School in 1948. He and his wife met while working for the Santa Fe Railroad and he was married to Elizabeth Riemer on July 1, 1951 in Ponca City, Oklahoma. He retired as an operations officer for the Santa Fe in 1987. Harold learned how to fly while in high school and later became an FAA certified flight instructor for single engine, multi engine and instrument aircraft, teaching many to fly in the Arkansas City and Winfield area. He enjoyed the outdoor sports including swimming and golf. Harold was a jack of all trades. He bore an uncanny ability to be able to fix nearly anything and would often dismantle both simple and complex appliances at his home, and successfully repair them..

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Plumer of the home, sister, Wilma Kirk of Carpinteria, California, daughters: JoAnn Ghram and husband David of Joplin, Missouri, Jana Lee Roberts of Topeka, Kansas, grandchildren: Joshua Ghram and wife Noelle of Andover, Kansas, Jennifer Ghram of Derby Kansas, Elizabeth Roberts of Topeka, Kansas, Candace Meinholdt and husband Derek of Topeka, Kansas, great grandchildren: Celestine Koerner, Tinsley Meinholdt, Paisley Meinholdt, Jace Ghram, and Jayda Ghram.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Wilbur, and sister Lucille.
